Braiding:
An industrial circular braiding machine may have four or more bobbins (also called carriers) it uses to create the braid. Half of the bobbins are moving in one main circular direction and the other half in the opposite direction. However, the bobbins don’t move just in a plain circle, they actually move in a S-formation, thus interlacing with the opposite moving bobbins which also move in a S-formation. This creates a tubular braid.
Sometime, a filler material is inserted in the tubular and as such braided in. Often it is done to create a gasket for insulation purposes. The attached video shows a good example of braiding.
