    Slashing:
Slashing belongs to the category of yarn preparation. In the weaving department e.g. fiberglass strands will be processed through a bath of a certain chemical. This chemical protects the fiber from the abrasion / friction occurring during the weaving process; especially where the reed travels back & forth along the fiber many times before the fiber passes that section and is processed into the fabric. In most cases, this applied chemical needs to be washed out again.
Not all fibers need to be slashed.
